Filter presses are used to dehydrate sludge and wastewater produced by an industrial cycle. They are therefore industrial machines that find application in various sectors such as for example in the food, oil mills, and obviously in the marble and granite industries.
In general, a filter press is composed of a series of plates which adhere to each other to form chambers. The “mud” produced by the industrial processing cycle is pushed inside the plates by a pump so as to form sticks of dehydrated mud. In fact, the pressure allows the liquid part to escape overcoming the filtering cloths and the mud to remain in the chambers between the plates.
The dried mud sticks are easy to dispose of and take up less space.
Generally, a filter press foresees the presence of vertical decanter silos for the clarification of the water.
